It had been quite some time since Ernesto had gotten away from the Lagoon for very long. Things had been slow and insidiously boring lately, and he was starting to go a little stir crazy. For Ernesto, the solution to such a problem was usually to stir up some trouble. He had been meaning to for a while now, but with Augustine coming to him recently looking for a role model, perhaps it would be an opportunity to teach the boy how to have a little fun. A more responsible parent might have felt differently, but it seemed a reasonable proposal to him. For now, however, Ernesto was contenting himself with a journey out to the Falls. The Lagoon was quiet and lonely lately, since their last captives had wandered off – not that he had made much of an attempt to guard them. Perhaps he could run into a few pretty little things here, maybe talk them into accompanying home. It was breeding season, maybe he might even get lucky. He took up a vantage point by the water’s edge, a little way down from the waterfall where the water rippled more calmly. He lowered his head to take a long, cool drink, then let his eyes stray across the landscape surrounding him, watching for an opportunity. ernesto heartbreak is savvy and love is a bitch |
