He had been ever watchful since Sekhmet first gave him the news that he would be a father again. Sekhmet. It was still so odd not to just think of her as his alpha. Of course, she was still that, but now he knew her name. It was both weird and soothing at the same time. He knew it was a very big deal for her to trust Kweku and him enough for that information. He wouldn't forsake her trust in ever speaking the name but only in her company. He had to test it out on his own lips a few times alone, if only to get used to sounding it out when thinking of her. And think of her, he did. She was growing ever heavier as spring came around. He did his best to hunt all kinds of game, anything from fish to rabbit to wounded deer to drag it all back to her.
He wanted her well fed. He also made sure she was comfortable and yet knew to read the signs when she wanted space and quiet. He wasn't one to cling or coddle so he would gladly take his leave at the first glimpse of anything resembling irritation in her eyes. He also made sure he caught hints of Kweku's scents around the den to make sure he was doing his diligent duties as father (number two, of course) as well. Any time the scent was too faint for his liking, he would track down the big wolf and either talk snarky to him for a little while about not pulling his own weight (since that was A LOT to pull) or simply glare at him from a distance till Kweku walked away. Cuirass didn't want to be on the behemoth's bad side but he also didn't want Sekhmet suffering in any way.
He was pacing outside his den, wondering if he should go hunt again, when the call rang out. He instantly froze and pricked his ears, knowing from the tired sound of her voice that it was time. She was either giving birth or had just done so. He had children to meet! There was a chance that none of the children would have his traits but he just couldn't believe that in the slighest. The Satanican blood running through him had to be too dominant not to have a strong voice in the litter, no matter Kweku's heft. He raced to her den, though he stood patiently at the entrance when he got there, waiting on her permission before he entered. See? He could be a gentleman when he wanted to.
Once inside, his breath caught when he looked upon the four tiny bodies huddled around her side. Pride glowed in his eyes from the moment he saw the white and red coat, knowing if none of the others had his look, Seline herself had come back to life in that one. He grinned and glanced at Sekhmet. "Not a surprise, but you did amazing, Sekhmet. Have you picked out names for them, yet?"
