MPFN September Meeting

Terry Whittam by Ken MacDonald, on Flickr
Our first general Midland-Penetanguishene Field Naturalists club meeting of the new season will be, as usual, the 3rd Thursday of the month, Sept. 19th, 2019, 7:30 PM at the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre in Midland.
Our guest speaker for the first meeting will be Terry Whittam.
His topic: MARVELOUS MONARCHS: Education, Preservation, Migration
Terry Whittam is a retired engineer whose hobbies include natural history, bee keeping, marathon running, and hawk watching. In the latter activity at Rosetta McClain Gardens in Scarborough, he became interested in Monarch butterflies and began a long-term tagging project there. His research with the Monarchs includes tagging, weighing, measuring wing lengths, classifying condition and redness as well as taking temperatures and tracking the “recoveries” of his tagged butterflies that have been found in Mexico. If Terry’s name sounds familiar to you, it should. His brother Bob Whittam (former Executive Director Wye Marsh), sister-in-law Judy and nephew Dan are all honourary life members of our club.
Free to MPFN Members. Visitors and Guests $5.00
