Sid Daniels and I walked the pond perimeter from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Highlight was 25! gorgeous Viceroys mainly at north-east corner of cell four. Other butterflies included 4 Least Skipper (no other skippers), two American Lady, 4 White Admirals, lots of worn Monarchs + larva. We found 5 tiny brilliant green Gray Tree frogs on shore vegetation. Red-eyed Vireo, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Indigo Bunting, Song Sparrow nice to hear singing in August. On Cell Four a Merlin was hawking for dragonflies, Green Heron along the shore. No shorebirds noted. Several Spotted Spreadwings in copula, several skimmer species, not one bluet seen. Choke Cherry and Alternate-leaved Dogwood at peak of fruiting presented a nice contrast. I investigated a water bottle on the bench forgot the warning and was stung twice by Yellowjackets swarming out of their paper nest.
