Aye, well he didn’t need much more confirmation than that sigh, did he? Exodus’ face said it all alone - the sigh had just been there to drive the point home. Morgan practically chewed on his cheeks as he mulled the thought over. So, there really were those kinds of wolves, huh? He supposed he ought to at least locate one of them to get a good feel for their kind’s look, at least. From what he had heard throughout his travels, they were seldom widespread...more of a family thing. If he got a good sniff and look at one, he thought himself wise enough to know how to spot another.
When Exodus spoke of his daughter though, Morgan looked up and away from his thoughts again. He grinned, nodded and gave a low mmph of what was surely agreement and understanding. If it came down to it, he thought much the same. It would never be ideal for Ella to have to fight, and though her obliviousness came from a different place, he could sympathise with Exodus’ plight over his daughter’s kindness too.
"Aye, my daughter’s much the same, though naught because she’s too tender-hearted. She’s too excitable, my lass is. It’s all a game to her,” he shrugged, though his eyes had become hard as he thought about his daughter’s nature. Like that, he had suddenly remembered just how far she might have been able to travel while he stood around and sniffed about.
"You came back, eh? Interesting that,” he remarked with a slight tilt to his head, but he closed his lips taut and put that conversation aside. There were other matters to be spoken of as it were, particularly with Ella now dashing about his brain like the wrecking ball she was. "Well, I’ll be direct with ya’ Exodus. If you’ve got yourself a patch of territory somewhere here, what would ya’ say to sharing it for a time? Old as I may be, I’ve been hunting and guarding since I could walk - and I can still walk, mind ya.’” He paused, half of his face turning up in a jesting grin before he continued. "Your lass, Lucia, and my own, Ella, might be good for each other, I think. I’ll teach your girl what I can, as Ella will too. We’ll provide, aye. But you know this place better than we, so we’ll be needing your knowledge, I think.” He finished with a stout nod, his voice bolder than it had been before. Morgan thought, at least, that it was one hell of an offer, though he’d not scorn Exodus for turning it down considering the suspicion he had been greeted with – and the suspicion he rightfully deserved to show in turn.
