Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

He had saved her, but at the same time, he had doomed her to the life of a victim. Her burns hurt, every damned day, and what do you know, he saved her to only die. She wished, every day, that he hadn't found her in the woods. Even sticking to the water, and keeping hidden, the burns hurt. They tugged at the edges of the fresh skin. If she moved to fast, it would break open, thus, causing more pain.

Why couldn't he have just let her die in the first place? She meant nothing to him, yet he chose to save her, and none of her family, leaving them to burn to death. He had ruined her life that day, by saving her life. Ironic, right? She didn't understand fate, why it had chosen her to put her in this painful life, why she had to deal with everything in the way that she did. But then again, right now, life didn't make sense so go figure. She felt as if she was getting thinner most days, barely able to take down rabbits on a good day, sticking to rodents and fish, which never put enough weight on her bones, lets be honest. So on top of looking like a monster due to the scarring that ran the length of her right shoulder and leg. Along with patches on her face. Her right ear was mangled, twisted nearly. The scarring on her leg looked similar to lightning, the way some of the scars scattered in long lines away from the most of the center of the burn.

She prayed that the fur would grow back, and cover some of the damage, but so far, it hadn't. But it'd only been a little over a year since the accident. The river was calling her today. Summer would be here, in a matter of days, and the heat was doing her in. She couldn't stand the heat, thus, finding a small water pool that clustered along the bank of the river, was her saving grace. She moved slowly, the hitch in her step obvious. But she didn't care, its not like she was going to be seeking anyone out today, nor did anyone seek her out. She found the small wading pool along the river bank, settling her long legs underneath her, propping her head up on the edge of the river, her purple-pink eyes staring up at the sky.

MERCI, LIVIDE FIRE
