Re(1): Court Backs "Faithless" Electors

There has never been a "one person, one vote" principle accepted as a rule or law in the US. From its inception the US chose not to reflect that idea, otherwise we would not have a Senate and a House of Representatives. If enough people feel strongly that such a principle should be adopted, then those people should advance and try to pass an amendment. That attempt will show whether a strong majority really believes this. As I recall (perhaps in error) the idea of the Electoral College was the strongly republican one that we fools would elect wise men who knew better than we which candidate should win. The theory may be outdated, but the Constitution represents a hard won, difficult, mutual agreement that certainly can fail to meet changing standards. I seem to remember that Jefferson expected large scale rewrites in periods shorter than 50 years. Those who find fault with the Founders' concepts should stop trying to take the easy way. They should prove that the people strongly agree.
