Welcome to the RAAF Airman Aircrew Association Message Board. It's for all to use whether airman aircrew or not, however the majority of us who frequent this message board are enthusiasts who want to be 'in the know'. We must be certain, however, that we do not disclose any information which may compromise the security of the ADF or its personnel and we also must be certain not to criticise or to pass judgment on others. 'THINK' before you post, or if you aren't sure, 'DON'T POST'. When making a post, you should identify yourself by including both your Christian and surnames as well as providing a valid email address. Thank you. http://www.boards2go.com/smiley.html

Bernie, there's a RAAF PR video on the Nigerian trip. It's called 'Operation Eastbound' and I have a copy of it.

Some time ago, I uploaded a copy of Operation Eastbound onto the 'Ex-RAAF Where Are They Now' Facebook Group. The link is below. Click on it and it should take you straight to the video providing you are on Facebook, that is.

This is what I wrote as a preamble to the video ...

'Nostalgia video 'Operation Eastbound'. 82 Bomber Wing and 36 Squadron represent Australia at Nigeria's independence from the Commonwealth on 01 October 1960. Three Canberra Bombers and one C130A make the 30,000km round trip. A 'mouldy-oldie', but interesting viewing. Might bring back some memories for some. A bit before my time!!'
