Rules• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders. • Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission. • All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say. • Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met. • You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page. • Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce. |

 Tell me, tell me I survived. I had no interest in being here any longer than I had to, even if my heart ached knowing I was about to leave Jabari behind. But Ruger had assured me this was the right choice. It was temporary, I tried to remind myself. Two seasons, that's it. Cullen looks to me with fire in his eyes and spits venom back at me after my casual insult. But my words rang true. Years ago, the Lagoon was the place to be for a bachelor stallion. It cultivated a robust herd of thieves and soldiers. In recent years, those numbers dropped off significantly. Now I had three stallions living within my herd. How times had changed. I don't bother to acknowledge Cullen's rebuttal, and wait patiently for him to consider my offer. He needed warm bodies. I needed some kind of a reprieve from his relentless attacks. Cullen himself was a formidable foe. His cronies - I doubt so much. It seemed even the Boss himself didn't trust his own men to fight on his behalf. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious what kind of intel Jabari might come back with about the cream-colored stallion. He was cunning and sharp. With the right numbers, he could run quite the gamut on these islands. I take note of Cullen's interest in Ruger. It made sense that the two knew one another, or at least of one another. They both came from legendary Lagoon sires. But perhaps it wasn't smart for Cullen to know where Ruger was residing. I bob my head when Cullen mulls over the offer and accepts. "Two seasons." I reiterate with the stomp of one forehoof. I knew better than to expect anything more. My gaze falls to my son now, who I watch as he tries to do his best to seem calm and cool under Cullen's gaze. I want to envelop him in an embrace, but refrain, of course. That's the last thing Cullen needs to see. Instead I grit my teeth and raise my head high over my withers, and give him a firm shake of my head. I love you son, the look in my eye says. Jabari stares back at me, and I watch him take a tough swallow. He looks to Cullen and follows with a short stride. I breathe a heavy sigh as a chill run down the length of my spine. Until we meet again, Jabari. |
