It wasn't too long before Monster realized they were no longer alone. She smelled another mare and turned her head, eyes of blue and brown landing on the older mare who was looking between her and Rayna rather intently. Monster could only assume this was Rayna's mother. Her ears flicked back and forth, waiting to see if the mare would attempt to run her off. Some mares could be quite protective of their children, though Monster was beginning to understand that a little more every time she was around a foal. She held her ground, ready to be the bitch she could be if needed, but she found herself not wanting to be openly hostile in front of Rayna. She didn't want to scare the filly, if anything. Monster watched curiously as the mare stepped closer to Rayna and bumped her with her nose. When the mare looked at her with a smile, Monster felt the corner of her lips twitch in response, but she wasn't really the smiling type so that would have to do.

Monster focused back on Rayna when the filly spoke, her eyes softening a little as the filly said that she didn't want her to leave, that she liked her and Liland did, too. Monster gave a soft snort of skepticism at that, tossing her head a little and swishing her tail as her lips curled into a smirk. "Maybe I'll stick around for a little while. I just don't think I'll fit in very well around here." Her gaze wandered back to the other mare as Rayna spoke to her, confirming that it was her mother. Rayna introduced the mare as Sabela and Monster dipped her head a little in greeting. The gesture felt stiff but she wasn't used to having to talk to so many others at once, especially not other females. Rayna said that her mother was mute and Monster blinked, her only show of surprise as she looked from the mare to Rayna.

How ironic that a mare that can't talk gives birth to a filly who seems to love to talk. She kept her thoughts to herself as she glanced back at Sabela then back to Rayna. It was obvious that it was hard for her to find something to say to someone that couldn't reply. Surely, she had a way to communicate, right? She glanced back at Rayna. "Well, I should probably be checking out more of the island. Later, Rayna. Uh, it was nice to meet you Sabela." Even the polite words felt wrong on her tongue. Ugh, maybe she needed to get away from this place sooner rather than later. Her coat gave a shiver as she moved past the two and gave another stiff dip of her head in farewell before she took off in a gallop across the island. She didn't know where she was going, only that it was about to become an awkward silence and she wasn't sticking around for it.
