As he got closer, he could hear that the stallion was speaking to the mare, which only enraged him more. Tresspessing onto his land and talking to a mare like he didn't exist? It seemed downright disrespectful to Cain. Sure, he didn't know a lot about herd rules and such. Actually, he planned on making it up as he went along. But coming onto HIS land and talking up a mare on HIS land? He figured that pretty much made her his and there was no way he was going to stand by and let another stallion talk to her like she wasn't. He made his threat well known as he stampeded toward them. He wanted there to be no question of who owned these lands and where he stood on tresspassers and border law. He didn't even listen to the stallion's name. He didn't care, not at this point.

He couldn't help the way his lips curled back into a satisfied sneer as the stallion finally turned his head and saw him coming. The wide eyed look gave him all the sweet and tinglies. As the stallion dared to scream back at him, Cain gave out a rattling snort and lifted his head even higher, arching his neck as he parted his jaws and curled back his lips to show off his teeth that much more. He roared back in response, openly challenging the smaller stallion to do something. Already he thirsted for the battle to come, for the bloodshed, for the pain. All of it. As he lunged at the other stallion, the dark wispy thing swung out of his grasp and turned his hinquarters to him. Cain didn't hesitate. Instead of trying to dodge the hooves, he plowed himself right into them, grunting at the force of it hitting his muscled chest. It would be sure to leave some bruises and the edges cut his skin but he clenched his jaw at the pleasure of the pain even as he aimed more bites at the stallion's haunches, still hungry as ever for a taste.

The other stallion launhed away and Cain went after him for a little, grunting around the pain of movement but he still kept gnashing his teeth and snapping toward the stallion, driving him and still aching for a bite of his sweet flesh. Only once he was satisifed that the male was far enough away did he turn back to the female, his skin twitching as warm blood trickled down his front leg. He could smell her fear thick in the air and his nostrils flared wide, drinking it in like the purest water. She had squealed herself as he came charging in but he was glad that she didn't try to run. He'd hate to have to herd her right back. He watched as she stared after the stallion he'd just run off and he gritted his teeth. Hell to the no. She was his, now. She shouldn't have eyes for another stallion. He was obviously the better protector.

He had proved as much already. The other stallion had run. He watched as she clamped her tail and began to back up. Snorting in disapproval, he narrowed his eyes and glared at her legs, demanding them to be still, else he'll have to intervene. If she didn't get the hint, he would have to use force to drive her further inland. He had learned more than just abuse at the hands of his human captors. He'd learned their body language, their facial expressions, the way they would look at the offending limbs to make them do what they want and if the beast didn't do as told, they would beat the beast until he did as told. Cain had seen it happen time and time again. He would use the same methods to keep his herd in check. She stuttered her words and he looked up to meet her gaze, though he glared once more at her legs when she continued to inch backwards.

He pawed the ground, his muscles tense, a warning that he would act at any moment if she didn't cease the offending action. "You assume correctly. It is mine and you did invade, but I suspect there must be a reason behind it." He tilted his head a little, not sure if he really cared why she came but if he could get her to talk, maybe she would learn that she could stay here. She said that she had to get back and he snorted more forcefully this time, stomping a hind hoof and swishing his tail in irritation. "Why so soon? You wouldn't have left them if there wasn't a good reason. Everyone needs a break from family sometimes." He curled the corner of his lip back to make more of a smirk as he tried his best at charming. Okay, so he's a little out of practice, okay?
