PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

the bane of honor, the death of duty

Kune nodded once at Božena’s directions, and fell into step behind her. This was the way of their relationship: she led, and he followed. She spoke, and he listened. This was a life of a Strážce, and it came as naturally to Kune as breathing. He would not have had it any other way… apart from, sometimes, late at night when he saw her sleeping, with the moonlight shining on her coat, or when he saw her bend to take a drink, and her mane cascaded over her face like a veil… or even the times when she spoke of her past, and her eyes shone like deep, dark pools. There were many other times as well, but Kune held them close to his heart, knowing that they were ultimately unimportant.

He was a Strážce, and that was all he would ever be.

Descent was uncomfortable as usual, and at times treacherous, but it was easier with Božena in the lead to show him the safest path down. Soon enough they were swallowed by the valley forest. It was easy enough to find the right way, for there were signs of activity everywhere, and soon enough they came upon the scene. Two mares stood, obviously distressed, with one looking dishevelled and injured. Broken sticks and gashes in the earth where hooves had scraped the ground confirmed Kune’s thoughts: there had been a fight here.

Kune might have been overjoyed to see that he and Božena were no longer alone in the Peak, but the unsettling scene they had walked into made his skin prickle with unease. He stepped forward to stand beside Božena so that he could quickly step in front of her if he needed to, and watched the mares before them with an expression that might have been carved of marble. Otherwise, he said and did nothing. Even if he knew more than a few fragmented words of the island tongue, it was not his place to speak in this situation.

He was a Strážce, and no more.
