a couple of lost and lonely souls

So, I’ve got a couple of boys on offer <3

First, Dances With Wolves. He was very close with Nephilim, Mariael and their family, and has definitely felt very lost since they all left. He’s left the islands occasionally but always comes back, in the hopes that Neph & co, as well as the many others who’ve mattered to him in the past, would return and find him waiting.

For the past three or so years, he’s just kind of been existing on the Crossing, caring for his blind daughter (who’s recently been forcebred by Warsaw while Dances wasn’t with her, so he feels terribly guilty). As for how they could meet, I figure Dances was aware of Mariael’s friendship/alliance with Persephone, and make the journey to the Forest, trusting that it would be a place where Echo, his daughter, would be safer from brutes like Warsaw. And from there, he could get to know Persephone, and build a friendship?

Second, I have my new boy, Kahraman. He’s got a noble heart, and at the moment, his pride & his body carry wounds from a dispute with his father, who exiled him and then sent others after Kahraman to kill him, after Kahraman refused to go to war with another vast herd, because the mare (Darshan) who was supposed to become Kahraman’s mate & unite their herds rebelled against the very idea, and fled. Kahraman’s father is a lot like Warsaw, but Kahraman himself had, and has, very deep respect for his mother, even though she’s no longer alive. She brought him up to be honourable.

The twist here, is that Kahraman will actually end up in the Lagoon, after swearing loyalty to Cullen, after Cullen comes to his aid. Kahraman likely won’t go to the Lagoon straight away, rather asking if Cullen would allow him to visit all the islands first, while he processes the events that brought him to the islands. Maybe this is when he meets Persephone and befriends her, not bringing his loyalty to Cullen up. As he has basically zero knowledge of the state of relations between the various islands & the Lagoon, he could quickly find himself warming to Persephone, without realising how complicated it will be.

If Persephone does end up having a foal with him, it will drastically change his inner state, and as things get worse, he’d try to sneak away and warn her of developments, even though doing so makes him a traitor to the Lagoon and to himself. As things build, he’d struggle more and more to keep his friendship with Persephone from his brothers in the Lagoon. When the war does come to the shores of Luthien and the Forest, Kahraman would disgrace himself and break his oath to Cullen and defend Persephone and their child.

Even if you don’t end up choosing Kahraman to father the foal, I’d still be up to have them build a bit of a friendship. In this case though, as much as he would come to admire Persephone, and try to sneak away and warn her once (willing to accept whatever consequences this brings to him, if any in the Lagoon cotton on), he would not betray Cullen when he follows him to the Forest, so… I guess, either way, I’m offering Kahraman up for drama & plotting!
