The journey to Tinuvel had left a seed of dread in Ylva’s gut that only grew the closer they came. By the time they arrived on its shores, Ylva was shaking, and was almost tempted to ask Shaydowfax to take her back. Salem hadn’t been so bad, had it? What had she to complain about? But deep down, she knew this was the right decision for her and her family. Now, if only Warsaw would keep to his side of the border.
Yet there was the fact that the stallion Shaydowfax had brought her to was apparently “not in his right mind”. That did not sit easily with Ylva. Would she and her children truly be safe here? But as Liland finally approached, Ylva felt her heart stop. She had not expected him to be a Fjord, for she had never run into one in her entire time on the islands. The familiarity of his stout build and pale coat that was perfectly suited to cold temperatures made Ylva feel instantly at ease. She looked at him approvingly with shy eyes, and felt her face grow hot. “Yes,” Ylva breathed, hardly able to force the words out. “It’s… it’s lovely to meet you, Liland.” She stared at him for a moment more, then suddenly remembered the presence of the others. Gesturing at her children, she said, “This is Harley Quinn, Joker, and Torsten. Thank you so much for taking us in.” She turned to Shaydowfax. “And thank you again, Shaydowfax… Please keep in touch.
