She felt relaxed around Elohim, or at least relaxed enough to hold a comfortable conversation without feeling she needed to be careful with her words or watch his body language for anything deceptive. He just didn't give off that air of a liar. Maybe he was a good actor, but she trusted her instincts and they weren't telling her to be careful. He settled back to listen to her as she named off wolves in her pack that had made an impression on her so far. True, the pack lands were a little slow at the moment, but there were still wolves acting within the pack and she was watching. She did find it a little chiche to say that every wolf who didn't want power would do the best with it. There were other traits she felt that wolf should have before handing them authority just to see what they do with it. Some measure of confidence is always nice to have. Rarely, a wolf can gain confidence by filling the role of leader, even if they didn't want it. But otherwise, a wolf has to have some measure of confidence to be able to adapt to the role without just falling under the new pressure.
She herself never wanted the power of an alpha. She just wanted to follow her alpha loyally and train the best fighters in Moladian. She loved her role and never asked for more. But she always had confidence in herself as a trainer and as a fighter so that helped mold her into the alpha she was today. She knew that she was a good listener and a good trainer. She liked to set an example and then watch others repeat it until they did it as good or even better. It always made her feel accomplished to see someone go on to be a better fighter. She didn't mind giving the names of the wolves. She was actually curious to see what Eden would do with them. She didn't see him having any ill intentions for the names brought to him but even if she was wrong, she would always protect her pack members.
He seemed curious when she called her own children vain, but he said that the past generations have been known for that. She snorted and rolled her eyes. "Don't I know it. I blame my father's side. All that Angel blood tainting my lineage." Even so, she couldn't help but smirk a little in humor. She then shook her head. "Though I would be a hypocrite to leave it at that since my children's own father is of Angel descent. He was different than the rest. Arrogant, yes, but a perfect warrior. What can I say? I have a type." She chuckled and wagged her tail. Yes, she could care less about her own coat or the many scars that riddled it, but Arkane? It was like he worked that much harder in the battle arena not to get a scratch for fear of it marring his perfect skin. And yet, even then, she found the trait almost adorable. Guess the apple really doesn't fall that far from the tree. Elohim then pointed out her cliche of those not wanting the power being best suited for it.
He mentioned about not having to work for it if you're born into the right family and she nodded. "I don't believe in handing something over on a golden platter. My children know that they will work for every title given to them. Nothing in life is free." He said that he would like to meet Ruby and Shaddix some day and she nodded again. "I'm sure I can arrange that." She wondered if it would be just him or Eden, too, but she liked Eden and she trusted Elohim. As long as he knew that she would be present as well, as an escort, at least. Not that she thought her pack members couldn't handle themselves. Those two were the least concerning in that respect. Shaddix was a trained killer and Ruby had enough Demon blood in her that it should be instinct to kill first and ask questions later. Then he even offered himself up if Apollyon ever needed some training, of sorts. She couldn't help but tilt her head as she considered it and smirked.
"Careful, Elohim. I may have to take you up on that. That boy needs all the help he can get, though I know he has a good head on his shoulders. Plus, I think the more male role models in his life, the better." He listened closely as she talked about traits in leaders too. She knew she was far from a perfect leader herself but she did strive to be a good example to her pack and those who saw her even from an outsider's perspective. Her eyes lit up in amusement when he laughed at her mention of all the children scattered through Moladian of Eden. He certainly did know how to get around. Elohim seemed to have his doubts though that Eden would choose from among them for an heir and Avery couldn't help but wonder why. He made it sound like Eden would pick someone outside of the bloodline if only to spite them all. She tilted her head. "Maybe that would be his way of seeing who wants it badly enough to earn it through bloodshed." It was just a thought, and maybe it would be far off from Eden's mind, but it wasn't too far off from her own thoughts on the subject.
That led to Elohim's next question, asking if she would look amongst her own children for an heir and her lips curled up, an eagerness in her eyes for her to tell him this bright idea. "Well, I've sort of been toying with the idea of having a battle royale to decide the matter. Not gladiator style to the death or anything so corny. No, just sparring matches for their first lesson. I didn't get the chance myself to fight for the rights to Iromar and I will always feel cheated in that respect, like I didn't really earn it. I don't want that for my children, if the throne of Iromar is truly where they want to stand some day. I don't want them to feel privileged, like the power is theirs by right, nor do I want them to resent me or my choices. I feel it would be a bad start for them with the pack, as well, just a spoiled brat getting what others worked for." She shook her head a little before continuing. "And not just my children. No, it would be open to all, even non-pack members. Though I'm thinking pack members should be prioritized since they know the land and have been loyal to it. I'm still working out the details in my head, but a series of matches to see who has the skill and prowess to lead sounds better than just choosing someone and stepping back to see how it goes. What do you think?" In this, she was actually genuinely curious of Elohim's own opinion about the matter. Maybe he could even help plan it out.
