Aplos Riverside

Moladion’s powerful, winding river...
Aplos River is a broad, slow-moving river originating from somewhere beneath the mountains of Spirane and feeding Iromar’s moors in the south. The northern parts of the river are known for their strong currents, with the water becoming slow moving in the south. The riverbanks vary along its course, ranging from soft hummock grasses to small groups of pine, and sometimes nothing but pebbles and sand. Crossing can be difficult at times, but it can be swam or bridged by fallen trees or boulders alike.

What a wicked game

More precious than food? Saba could not imagine such a thing right now. However, she allowed him to keep this secret of his. This stranger was clearly devoted to whatever lay just beyond her view and Saba was incapable of conjuring the energy to be so committed to..well, anything really.

She eyed him neutrally, watching the snarl grow in his body and a paw slide the unnamed object closer to himself. Saba thought, briefly, that she’d seen some part of it— just a flash of brilliant white— as he tucked it further beneath him. But his movement and widened eyes caught her attention before she had time to really linger on more thoughts about his treasure.

One ear tilted away, but she only smelled something instead of hearing it. Something was deliciously injured. Though her mouth started to water, Saba still trained her dark eyes on the wolf. He licked his chops and she itched to do the same but only shifted her weight between paws in a subtly restless way.

Saba thought she understood his few worded proposal. Join forces to bring down the hopefully slower prey, divide the portions, go about their ways. Oh, and don’t cross that line. Teamwork wasn’t usually her style, but she could admit to herself that their odds were much better together. That is, as long as this stranger could be trusted to hold up his end of their silent agreement.

“Alright, then.” Saba said and directed her gaze in front of her, away from his hidden cash and the line he’d drawn in front of it so as to say these things did not hold her interest. For now, at least. She was typically quite good at squashing her curiosities but there was something about the way he guarded it that left her wanting an answer to stamp out the possibilities in her head.

She padded forward three steps, four, testing the scent to pinpoint the direction of the bloodied animal. Now that she was a few paces away, perhaps enough to ease some of his worry, Saba nodded ahead of her. “After you.” She might have agreed to hunt together, but the timber miss wasn’t convinced it was wise to turn a back to a shifty foreigner who had just as many thoughts of food as she did.
