And the cold lonely air. On the rock restless seas. Bjorn's herd was growing. What seemingly began with her in the Dunes had quadrupled or more in the Ridge. Perhaps the pony stallion was more capable than Tavas gave him credit for, but still, her expression soured any time he was near. The palomino mare from Tinvuel hadn't gone out of her way to meet the collection of mares Bjorn had recruited. But she wondered briefly if Warsaw was sending a steady supply to him. The only experience she had to compare to Bjorn was Requiem. Where Bjorn was thorny and matter-of-fact, Warsaw's son was kind and compassionate. But Requiem's track record of building and maintaining a herd was ... well, quite dismal in comparison to Bjorn. The young golden mare wasn't stupid. She knew her safety and her future now depended on her relationship with Bjorn. So while she mostly kept to herself, the mare made sure she was never far from the stallion. So on this day, as his call rang out through the humid jungle, it only took a few minutes for her to reach him. She was among the first, and did not bother to greet him with words or smile. Instead, she merely parked her dainty frame up front, and watched as all his followers came to listen. The first to arrive was a giant draft-bred stallion, someone Tavas had never seen before. She couldn't help but just stare at him. She wasn't sure she'd seen a horse so heavy-set in her short lifetime before. Next came another mare, a pretty thing, who seemed nice enough. Tavas managed to offer her the weakest of smiles, wiping away her general pout-like face for just a second to show a glimmer of kindness. She looked back to Bjorn and flicked her long, wavy blonde tail over her rump in impatience and rolled her eyes. It wasn't like the mare had anything better to do. But Bjorn didn't need to know that.
