Since you asked...and more Posted on December 12, 2019 at 05:23:41 PM by Jim
Straymar...I have a feeling if you and I had ever met up in a fronton and discussed our wagering tips, we'd probably match up pretty well...lol. People used to ask me what I bet, and that's one reason I stopped wagering with tellers...some would talk to much. I don't like anyone to know what I spend but me, and I very rarely, if ever, "go in" with anyone on wagers, except when I introduced jai alai to my best friend. He liked it, and we did quite well together. Of course, I did all the handicapping...he had no clue on that end, because he was new.
He always liked it when we had the tri given, but there was a playoff, and the way I bet, a playoff rarely hurt me, but I also bet tough combos as well, because that's where the money is. And I wold say, "ok, look, the tri is 6-4-1 or 8. We need the 8 to make this pay 5 times what 6-4-1 will pay.
Again, he was new to it, so he didn't know how tough a 6-4-8 was. Similarly, you mentioned playing a 6-3-7. For example, if I like post 6, I play 6/1234/all, 6/5/12348, and 6/78/12345. Sure, the 6/12/45 and 6/3/125 are the given, normal, typical odds on outcome, if post 6 wins, but if it goes two rounds, not so much. Those 6/1234/78 returns were ALWAYS good, even if Goiko won it.
