OOC: Aw, I love her! <3

The painted stallion wasn't sure who he expected to come greet him after his victory, but it hadn't been Vihaan. He'd kept to his word and let Everglow and her go and he hadn't even tried to check in on them. He was trying something new, trusting Vihaan to keep her word and come back to the desert. He didn't even know if she was pregnant or not with his child but a part of him hoped that she was, if only to be able to see yet another strong child born that was of his blood. This coming spring would be his first batch of children, though none of the mares here knew that. He had been kept isolated in a dirt pen for four long years of his life and before that, he was just a yearling colt, bottom of the totem pole in his herd. He'd never had the chance to court a mare or breed, not till he found his own freedom here in the islands.

Now he would get to be a father for the first time and something inside him felt lighter with the realization. He was holding his fort down as lead stallion and though sometimes it was frustrating to be rejected so much more than he was accepted as he was, he still perserved and stepped up when needed. He was adapting, learning how to interact and greet other horses. Mares were still fickle in his opinion, but some were worth more value than others, at least in his opinion. It wasn't about the beauty on the outside but about the mind on the inside. He wanted mares that were strong and independent. Nothing weak or clingy would make it in a place like this, as Primrose was showing him. She had been practically starving by the time he was able to find her out and about and actually show her where the oases were.

Now she could take better care of herself and the growing child inside her. He hated that she hid from him for so long and didn't let him help her but in a way he could understand her fear. He had started off as a very pushy stallion and he had force bred her when she came to the Desert. He didn't expect her to be grateful to him, but he hoped over time their relationship might get better. At least with Vihaan, it was still her choice to offer him breeding rights. Just maybe not the time she expected him to take her up on it. Still, he hoped he had made an impression on her when he showed a softer side that he didn't show many. He'd been checking the borders, waiting to catch her scent and with as time wore on, he grew impatient but still, he held his ground and waited.

If it got too far past two days, he told himself he would go after her, but not before. He would trust her and wait it out till then. So as he proclaimed his victory over Bhaskara and went to get a well deserved drink, he caught a familiar whiff on the air and his head snapped up even as her soft voice met him. She said his name in a question, but it seemed so much heavier than just that. Her eyes searched his features, concern and confusion and so much more washing over her regal features. He still remembered her fierce nature when protecting Everglow. She'd impressed him then with her inner strength so it had been puzzling for him when she seemed to break down before him once they were alone. He'd wondered about it but kept his thoughts to himself, telling himself they would figure it out when she got back to the Desert.

He could smell the other herd on her and the possessive nature in him wanted to rub against her and take that scent away in a hurry, leaving only his to mark her, but he held back. He knew she probably wouldn't want him to touch her any time soon, but maybe in time she would allow it. He could give her that. She had kept to her word after all, and came back. Approval shined in his dark eyes as he shook out his coat and gave a deep whicker. "Welcome home, Vihaan. I hope the journey wasn't too hard on you." He looked her over, checking for injury but it looked like she'd held up pretty good, at least physically. As her questioning gaze continued to hold him, he tugged the corner of a lip up into a smirk, sure that he looked a sight with all the dried blood on his neck and shoulder. "This is nothing, really. I had a challenger for the Desert and I fought her off. How was your trip to the Prairie?"
