He could tell he'd caught her off guard, but then, what did he expect? She knew him as a completely different stallion than he'd been changing into in the time she avoided him in the Desert. In that time, he met Geneva and Harlequin and even Persephone. He learned what it was to show respect and be respected. He learned he could still get what he wanted without using violence. He learned caring could be seen as a strength. He never got to show Primrose what he was learning because she always avoided him, and for good reason. He understood her need to steer clear of him. He'd shown her nothing but bullying and violence. He understood now that he was no better than the humans who tortured him. In ways, he was worse to her. Watching her eyes, he could see that she was trying very hard not to believe him. He didn't blame her one bit.

She agreed with his assessment that she was a neglected prisoner and he sighed in dismay. He couldn't begin to understand what she'd gone through in her time here and he hoped she would give him the chance to change the future here, if she wanted to stay after the foal, of course. When she winced, his ears flicked back."You okay?" He didn't know what was going on but he wanted to make sure she wasn't injured or something. Did it have to do with the foal? When he apologized, he could see the shock in the pale mare's eyes. It was a shocking moment to him as well, since he'd never apologized before. If anyone deserved it though, it was Primrose. She asked why he raped her and he winced. It was definitely not one of his greater moments. He let her know first that she might not understand everything cause he knew most of the island horses didn't seem to know what a human was.

The mare told him to try her though so the paint stallion jumped into his story, trying to summarize but still get the key points across of why he was the way he was. Primrose finally said that greed was a monster and he looked at the ground, letting her scold him and get it all out. He deserved it and more. When she said that she believed his story, Cain looked up in surprise, having expected her to call him a liar or something. After all, why would she trust him? She said that she expected him to keep being honest and he nodded. "I do want that." He admitted, even as she poked her muzzle into his chest. The mare then said that she would work on forgiveness if he listened to her story so obediantly, the black and white stallion pricked his ears and waited. She said hers wasn't as colorful and he smiled, nodding when the mare said that the father of her child should know.

She named her parents, Sanibel and Shamwari, saying they loved each other and telling her about her small family growing up. She then told him how her mother was taken captive by Rougaru and the name brought a flicker of recognition to his eyes. Yes, he'd already gotten the chance to meet Rougaru and he didn't like what he saw. Primrose then told him that she met a stallion, Han, and he was her first love. The idea of love was foreign to Cain, his ears flicking back and forth in uncertainty. The mare told him that Han left without saying goodbye and that's when she ended up in the sea and here, where Cain ran into her. He knew what she was doing. She was wanting him to know exactly what she was going through when he came in and ruined her life, took her virginity, held her captive just as her mother was held captive. His skin tingled with shame and he inhaled sharply before shaking his head.

"All I can do is apologize, Primrose. I don't know much about love or what it entails, but I'm sorry you were hurt, first by Han and then even worse, by me. It only sounds like an excuse now but I was angry about Bahadir being here and I took it out on you. That doesn't make it right, what I did, any of it, and for that, I'm truly sorry." He finally looked up at her, wanting her to know he meant it. He was waiting for her response when she suddenly squealed and her neck arched. He jerked back at first, thinking she was retaliating, but then he saw the pain in her pretty features and he nickered softly in concern and stepped closer to her. "Primrose...what's happening? What can I do?" His brow furrowed as panic set in. What was going on? Was something wrong with the foal? What was he supposed to do? He stayed close in case she went to fall. He would brace his shoulder to hold her up if he needed to, not wanting her to hurt herself or the foal. He looked around as if for help, not knowing it was worth a try to move her somewhere. If the foal was coming, would she have to do it out here in the middle of the Desert?
