The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

AND WE'LL NEVER BE ROYALS
IT DON'T RUN IN OUR BLOOD
THAT KIND OF LUXE JUST AIN'T FOR US

Hepzibah considered the other silently, though she barely winced as Sorath asked if it was safe. She was sorry that her daughter already had witnessed the pain and death that life had to offer. That she knew what it was like to wake up panicked from memories that resurfaced when the world was quiet. Hepzibah almost pitied her child and yet, she couldn't help but to be proud that she still ran ahead. She showed so little fear in the face of strangers. Sorath would be her legacy--Hepzibah was calm in that knowledge. Now, it would be time to find her a place to grow and flourish the way she should have had it not been for the Angels.

The Spine of Hell noticed that her face seemed to fall just slightly before she cleared her throat and then rose to her feet, kicking out a hind leg before tenatively placing it down. They had traveled far but there was something clearly more than old age affecting her these days. She did her best to hide it, at least from Sorath, but she knew that her days were numbered. The Gates of Hell would open for her soon enough and she would rejoin her lineage. She hoped they would look kindly on the life she led. But for now, there was still breath in her lungs and blood in her veins. "It would seem that the Angelic culture has faded as much as the Demonic, though I would not be surprised in Angels followed us." She stopped herself then, looking pensive and as if she was calculating how much of their past she should give away. Instead she broke her eye contact with Ruby and instead looked towards the daughter that resembled her father in everything but her markings.

She inhaled sharply. She glances back at Ruby with a smile and a bit of the impish attitude from her youth glimmered across her stern and worn features, "My first kill was a young alligator. They are worthy and tasty adversaries." A joke for the younger generation but she saw Sorath's eyes light up as if reflecting a forest fire and immediately regretted the quip.

Hepzibah glanced at Ruby, "I trust you will make introductions to Avery on our behalf. It will be good to be in the place I was as a pup and perhaps help her teach her children the ways of Hell." As she took steps towards the other side of the grotto, she watched as her child took the initiative and scurried towards the other side, pushing past Ruby to do so and Hepzibah did not bother to scold her. What good would it do? Sorath was just as stubborn as her own mother.
