He wanted Zubeia to be happy here. He hated that she came here not knowing what became of her family, of her herd. He wished he could give her some closure, but he didn't know how to do that if it was unsafe to go back right now. Maybe some day, she would allow at least him to go check. Maybe she could escort him or even just tell him where to go. He wouldn't push her. After all, she might need time to come terms with leaving them, to accept whatever fate they might have met in her absence. He didn't think a lot about how she said she was a princess. She didn't sound that tore up about losing that chance to be an heir and lead a herd. Maybe she wasn't even sure she wanted that. Maybe some day she would. He left that sort of thing up to his mares to decide anyway.
At least, the little paint mare didn't seem too bothered by the warm climate in the Desert. She said it looked like her old home and Cain nodded. Then she said a tour would be nice so Cain pricked his ears and started to lead her around. He showed her the oases and the good places for grazing and getting water. He showed her the best places for shade and where she could find exotic food like dates and such. For now, he'd really only shown the caves to Geneva and he kept it that way until someone else might show intolerance for the heat here. He didn't want her to feel overcrowded, after all, especially now that she had a colt to protect. The tobiano stallion looked around while he gave his tour, wondering if there were any mares out and about that might like to meet Zubeia, give her another friendly face to talk to. He wanted his mares to mesh, after all.
