I don’t think I’ve ever really felt fear, not like the amount of fear I was seeing in Aspis’ eyes. It really seemed as if the devil was at his tail. What was that kind of fear like, I wondered, my mind running a million miles a minute. When I didn’t move as fast as he wanted, I watched the anger spread on his face, his ears folding as he snarled. My expression turned guarded and confused, unsure what I was supposed to think in this situation.

Lets be real, I hadn’t seen him in a few years, and then he runs at me telling me to yell, anyone in their right mind would be confused at this. Not just me, but at the same time, that zing in my chest was telling me to listen, that he wouldn’t be this scared if it wasn’t a real threat, right? But at the same time, I couldn’t help but wonder if this was real. After all, I didn’t really know him, nor did I know if he was the kind to react like this over something so simple or not.

But the bite to my flank brought my attention back to his face, along with a sharp bark to his face, my own scrunched as I swing my flank away from his reach. “You don’t need to bite! Crap. I don’t see anyone so why do I have to run?! This makes absolutely no sense!” Frustrated couldn’t even cover the feelings that I felt.

I moved forward, only slightly, merely because I had no idea where he wanted me to go, and I wasn’t about to get nipped again if I went in the wrong direction. “For someone in such a hurry you’ve yet to tell me where I’m supposed to be running, mister.” I scrunched up my nose as I tipped my head, waiting for him to show me where I was supposed to go. Whether or not I would run was another thing. I guess I’d decide later, right?
