Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Being back here had so many emotion-filled memories rising up from the pits that she had thrown them in. She had tried to forget everything that had gone down here over the past few years and it had worked to an extent, but she was back now. She was back and she couldn’t avoid them anymore.

She’s made her way all the way through to the prairie as the sun is heading toward its place on the evening horizon. For now it’s still light enough that Myrria can travel in peace and relish in the sunlight for a while longer. But perhaps coming to the fields wasn’t the greatest of plans in the grand scheme of things. She remembers that Sekhmet had once ruled the rolling hills north of here; is that still true?

The memories of her once close and oldest companion are the hardest to relive. She had, at one point, thought her feelings to be more intimate and serious than before. But she was too afraid to make mention of them and before long her opportunity was lost. Sekhmet had found others to share her life and provide a family with. Myrria had become bitter and held fast to her grudges, keeping her distance even further from her partner and confidant.

Until one day… she just vanished.

She left Moladion and travelled as far away as she could manage. Her identity shifted, she took on a new alias, and for a while she lived without indulging in the thrill of cannibalism. But she was still weak at her core. Still dependent on that otherworldly desire. She caved to her need to slaughter and consume and before long she didn’t recognize who she saw in the water’s reflection.

Herbs had helped for a short time in between until they did nothing more for her. But they had been a decent distraction despite almost killing her. She approaches the lake now as the pink and gold of the sunset sky warmly reflect on the surface. Ripples from the spring winds edge toward her as she waits by the shoreline, not quite knowing what to do next. To drink or to swim?
