HYMIR
Hymir tied his boat, the Sinmoru, to the riverside dock that served the town of Oliford, unaware of the curious glances that followed his movement; one would think Shamanites would be quite familiar with the strange, but he supposed it wasn't every day that someone quite like him appeared. After all, how many eight-year-olds were sailing solo? And that was to say nothing of his companions, an Ictyph, plant construct, raven, and undersized crocodile. He paid his coin, ignoring the not-so-subtle probing about where he'd earned his docking fee, and turned to his companions. Syla and the construct would stay behind to watch over the boat while Areum and Hymir would venture onto land, to feed and to trade. Syla opened her big mouth full of pointy sharp teeth, sunbathing contentedly, while the construct draped itself over the wooden rails. Only a fool would step foot on his boat while he was away.

Content his meager belongings were secure, Hymir turned towards town. He shoved his balled fists into his vest pockets as he walked, bracing himself against the slightly chilly air, while his Ictyph guardian padded along at his side. They traded a few of the deep sea pearls he'd fished out for some supplies they'd need in the weeks to come. A gruff scream above made him pause on his way to the next stalls. Ymir was never wrong: someone was following him. His small size and apparent youth made him an easy target for the less savory sorts, particularly when they noticed the gossamer haze over his pupils: he was partially blind on the best of days, and completely on the worst. He hurried his steps, pushing himself forward towards the milling people just ahead. If he could just get into the crowd, he could easily avoid whomever or whatever it was that was after him. Worst case he could clamber up on Areum and get away that way; Ictyph couldn't fly very high or long, but they could make it back to the boat if nothing else. Still, he had things he needed to do before they could leave, so losing his tail was the best thing he could do.

"Hey!" came a male voice from behind him. Some instinct pushed Hymir to duck, a hand passing by him only a breath away. He hurried faster, casting a scared glance back - and slamming face-first into the body in front of him. Hymir squinted up at the man as Areum placed herself between the two and the still-approaching man - men, Hymir corrected as another two joined the first. Areum puffed up, hair standing on end and teeth bared.

"Hand 'im over," said the first man to the person Hymir had run into. Deciding the green-haired man looked decidedly less scary than the men, the boy-shaped god slid back anxiously, almost stepping behind the stranger. "Don' go pullin' people into our business, boy. Ain't no one going to protect a little thief like you."

Hymir frowned, now peeking out from behind the man. "I'm no thief, you dirty story!" he replied, glaring. He looked up towards the man he was unabashedly hiding behind. "You don't believe this louse, do you, sir?"
