We found each other in the dark

Through the black starless water,
And the cold lonely air. On the rock restless seas.

Tavas spent a lot of time thinking of the last time she was alone with Bjorn. Something had changed then, in her at least. The two talked openly and honestly for what was likely the very first time, and suddenly, the palomino mare didn't hate him as much as she thought she once did. The Icelandic stallion was level headed, but rather cunning. He was seemingly always scheming, but with the best interests of his herd always top of mind. The grullo stud was actually quite charming when he wanted to be. He made Tavas feel valuable in those short few minutes they'd spent together, as if she had something real and honest to offer him. Now her heartbeat would quicken whenever she saw him around the Ridge, even far in the distance.

Perhaps she was smitten. Or maybe could be...

She was grazing quietly in a clearing among the trees when she heard his familiar voice. The slender golden mare lifted her head from the earth's floor, and two yellow ears flicked forward at attention. His words and tone were blunt and direct. She stared at him seriously as she finished what was left of the snack in her mouth, swallowing slowly and considering the information he'd just brashly shared with her. Tavas studied his blue eyes, searching for some kind of emotion behind his otherwise business-like demeanor and demands. "Well, hello to you too." She said with a snort and the casual roll of her big brown eyes. The mare sighed then, her blonde tail flicking with annoyance over he rump as she mulled everything he'd shared.

Tavas knew about Requiem's attempts to win her back. It put her in a strange position. She would be lying if she said she didn't still have feelings for Warsaw's son. The time they'd spent in the Bay together was an important part of the palomino's short chapter of adulthood. But her life here in the Ridge was going okay, she thought. She didn't hate it here. And this newfound interest in Bjorn was tantalizing. Tavas had no dreams of becoming his lead mare, but she felt like she could do things here. Maybe important things. And maybe she could fall in love, for real, here. Just maybe.

"Do you want me to stay here?" She asks next, her chiseled head coming to rise higher over her withers as she stared at the stallion now.

"I'm not going to apologize for Requiem's behavior. He's doing exactly what you would probably be doing, if the roles were reversed." She spat back, the flicks of her tail becoming more frequent and even violent-like. "But thanks for asking me what I want. I think you might be the first." Which was true. Warsaw sent her away to Requiem. And then he sent her here to Bjorn. Thus far, the mare had had little say in her own life, which was becoming increasingly more annoying to her.

"I want to go home." She says finally, almost breathlessly. Her gaze hovers around her ankles before sheepishly returning to settle on Bjorn. "Not to the Cove. To the Inlet. I want to see my dam." Tavas would also be lying if she said she wasn't heartsick for Tinuvel. She missed Vita Nova more than she ever thought possible. "I know this is a terrible time, given your war and all...." She adds, her voice trailing off. "But let me go see her. And I'll promise to come back to you... If you want me to be here."
