The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Ella had met many wolves in her life, but the wolves of Moladion seemed very different to them all. Well, besides those wolves they had met from Moladion. They had a certain air about them, and they always seemed to be more organised than the usual strays, and Ella had seldom seen eyes or fur like theirs too. Morgan had said it was just because she hadn't seen that much that she thought that, but she was fairly sure she was right about them. It was as if Moladion drew forward the most daring of their kind and, in turn, made even more daring wolves to spread out into the world. Since she had been born, Ella had started to see more and more hints of Moladion in the wolves outside of their world. Even if they weren't really like the Moladion wolves, the closer they got to Moladion, the more she had started to notice it in their eyes: even wolves as plain as she was had eyes like the night sky, or like auroras, or like summer flowers. It fascinated her, and so she could not help but be in awe of Lucia in that way. Any other wolf might have been embarrassed but not Ella, who had practically been so caught up in her fascination that she had mindlessly accepted the girl's unneeded apology. Apologising for startling her...Ella didn't feel like arguing why that was a silly thing to apologise for, anyway!

"Aye, father! That's the one," she said with a hint of a laugh, ever amused by the difference in terminology. Old man, father, papa, pa'...Ella had heard fathers called everything under the sun - bastard, pater, athair...Everybody had their own word, and Ella wondered what each one really meant. What was father to dad, and what was dad to da'? She shook her head and shrugged, dismissing her own question for another time.

Lucia's mention of her parents enjoying the company made Ella perk up quickly though. She straightened and waved her tail, all tooth when she grinned her snaggletoothed grin. Of course, Ella was more interested in the company of Lucia, who was at least much younger than all the parents involved - she doubted Morgan, or Exodus by extension, would tell her about any secret spots or special hideaways. Lucia might, though! Lucia was young enough, Ella thought, to still have some adventurous bones in her, even if she didn't give off the aura of somebody all too interested in getting herself dirty. Well, Ella thought, wolves could change! Maybe she just hadn't had the opportunity to express it if she had been stuck with nobody but her parents for so long.

"Pleasure's mine, Miss Lucia!" She bowed deeply with playful formality before she righted herself and jerked her head to a tilt, lips pursed in thought for a moment. How long had it taken, anyway? Since Morgan had taken her in, or since she'd convinced Morgan to check Moladion out? When had their journey really started?

"Yeah, we traveled pretty far now thatcha' mention it," she said with a small laugh, stretching her legs out as she did so, ever anxious to start moving again. "I was born in a forest and lived with my ma' for a while, but Morgan took me in eventually. Ma' wasn't the best ma', ya' know." Ella was an open book with no particular shame in any part of her life, and she could not help but shrug with indifference at mentioning her mother, as if it was completely normal and relatable to do so. "So, we got to travelin' so...guess ya' could say I'm from a lotta' places!" She flashed a broad grin, well and truly proud of that fact at least. It was exciting to know so many places, and to have met so many wolves! It made her antsy on her paws and they danced a little below her, itching to get to meeting and knowing even more places and even more wolves.

"Whatta' 'bout you, Lucia? Born here, were ya'? Well, maybe not here-here, but ya' know what I mean!" She motioned towards the grotto itself and shook her head, not having meant to be rude by any means. No, she was sure Lucia had been born somewhere respectable, most like.
