There’s a moment in which Evren’s curious, searching expression goes blank, though her russet eyes never leave Persephone. For one crazed moment she wonders if Persephone knows - if she had known and planned this accordingly. But her friend’s expression is honest, and Evren blinks away unshed tears to process this information, her face frozen in a shocked half-smile. She does not question her friend’s decision to plan for a baby in the midst of a war - her only concern is the current situation in which she finds herself.
It’s then she realizes that she can keep her secret no longer.
“You’re not going to believe this,” she begins, her voice small. “But… I’m kind of in the same situation.” She flashes Persephone a tiny, sheepish smile. “It wasn’t exactly planned, though. And he doesn’t know.” Her eyes drop to the ground, and she lets out a nervous laugh. “I don’t believe this.”
When her eyes find Persy again, they are shining anew with tears. “Our children will be sisters.”
