He had taken it upon himself to reacquaint himself with the land he had once known. It had been so long ago that in a way, it was easy for him to look upon the moors with a fresh pair of eyes and understand it differently than he had as a child. It wasn’t entirely the difference in the land itself, either, but also the wolves that inhabited the place and the wolf who lead them all. Today was a day like any other, where white cream paws took on the darker tint of the silt that made up most of the soil. Since he had come to the swamps, Cae has been exploring and learning more about the pack, with a focus on the outlook the wolves here had toward Avery. It was reminiscent of his days from long, long ago in Asteraia; when Rhae had been Queen and fiercely looked over those that she cared for. She had loved each of her wolves with a passion, and she had died fighting for them and protecting them all. Even though she hadn’t been the victor that day that they lost their home, she had always been victorious when it came to Cae’s view of her.

He found Avery to be similar to those aspects of his Mother, coupled with her own singular tenacity and ferociousness. For learning more about his imprint, the pale wolf credited much of the experience to a peculiar wolf he had met by the name of Najira. She was a healer, but as much as she had an affinity for plants she also had an affinity for the stars and their voices. Such was never something Cae himself had experienced, but it was something he accepted from the girl all the same. She felt different to him from other wolves, much the way he had always felt different from other wolves, and so there was a kindred connection between the two. Even now, as they travel together to the same place, there’s a comfortable silence between them that has long been their custom. Najira spoke when it was needed, as did he, and it worked well for the both of them. Though he had more than a handful of years on her, it often felt like the girl was his mentor at this point in his life.

Arriving on the scene together, Cae’s attention is first focused on Avery and then the younger dark wolf who was the first to answer the call. She looked entirely pleased with herself, and though they had only caught the end of her last sentence, he knows that the wolf he arrived with his interested. After the moment of their initial arrival has passed, and because the first young wolf is in front of Avery, Cae approaches from off to the side so that he won’t be impeding. Unwilling to assert himself into any sort of conversation, he gives a nod of acknowledgement to both wolves along with the utterance of a simple word, "Avery." He does not know the name of the other, and perhaps in due time he would, but for the time being he is content to recline upon his haunches and make himself comfortable. He had always been a watcher and a listener, never much of a talker, and it was something that had remained with him all throughout his life.
