Re(1): Trying to find any info on my grandfather WW1

Good Morning Cherie and welcome to the LF Web Site.
Sadly I am not able to give you good news. As you say their are many of the same name who served during WWI. The WW1 Medal Rolls held by the National Archives record 1,041 individuals of that name and again a similar number are recorded on the Medal Card Index held by Ancestry.com. Having made the assumption that he may have served in the Lancashire Fusiliers the Forces War Records Web Site shows some 57 individuals of that name or simply G. Robinson who served with the Lancashire Fusiliers during WWI.
As such and without further information it will be extremely difficult to identify the correct individual.
The answer along with further information may well lie within your own extended family. You say he had medals? If so and if they can be located it is probable that his name rank and number will be stamped around the edge of the Medals along with the unit he served with. However not all medals had the recipients details stamped on them. Again, are their any documents held by family members that may point you in the right direction? You cannot upload the photograph you have directly to the Web Site. Please click on my name above in blue and attached it to an email to me. I will see if I can spot any pointers as to his regiment.
Without more information it is not possible to assist further at this time.
Regards
Geoff Pycroft
