He was quick, she'd give him that. Her cheeky smile reappears and a genuine laugh escapes her at his rebuttal and she reciprocates his step forward, ears pricked. Boldly, she chooses to close the remaining distance between them, settling herself at his side.
"To be honest, I don't know," she offers, glancing away for a brief moment before looking back at him, charcoal lips upturned. "I'm still learning the language."
Her confidence carries her right into his explanation of his family and she listens attentively as he speaks, forcibly shoving the thoughts of her past family, past life, from intruding.
