where innocences burn in flames
It is as if time slows. The only sound that can be heard is the rush of blood in his ears, the quick staccato of his thrumming heart, and his breath as it leaves his lungs with each breath. Then it all tumbles, the shift Raider's weight and the movement catches Björn's watchful gaze. He is only a split second behind him as the stallion rears and aims a hoof at his skull, he jerks his head up and follows the momentum. He rears upward and feels his muscles strain as he holds himself up to match Raider's height. As they clash once again and begin their descent, his teeth reach for anything that he could clamp them around. A grunt erupts from his opened maw when a hoof glances off of his chest, the pain explodes across his chest. He grimaces, and tries to push the pain from his mind. There would be a time to heal, this is not that time. Beneath his hooves is finally solid ground, he pivots away from Raider, his ears laced against his skull as barrels toward the one who now threatens the filly the most. A guttural roar splits the air as he lunges at the other male. "You must have a death wish," he growls as his glacial eyes narrow. He knows that he is outnumbered, but there was no way he was allowing these slimy lagoonies to take this child back to their swamp. "If you see a chance little one, run as fast as your legs can carry you... find your mother," he whispers to the filly for only her ears to hear. If she was able to make her escape, he would fend them off until she found her mother. He raises his head and proudly turns to face the two men. He does not fear battle nor death, it is for the norns to decide when his time will be. Today is not that day. Icelandic mutt - Grullo Sabino - Stallion - 14.3 hh
