The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

How long has it been since she last saw her sister? Probably a few years now. Yet her voice is still unmistakable even after all this time. Maybe a bit more matured and refined, but… the essence of Ruby is still within each note.

Sounds carry so easily in the grotto that the hushed echo of her voice could easily be anywhere within the cavernous system. Though that won’t stop Lethe from finding her. Slowly and methodically she makes her way through the stone labyrinth in search of her sister. Every now and then she pauses to reassess her direction until she catches a wafting scent trail that leads her closer to the southern edge.

Winding her way through a small series of boulders she emerges to find Ruby conversing with a stranger - an older male. As her eyes hit Ruby’s face she’s sucked into the memory of their last time together; exploring Iromar’s bone pile with their mother. A pang of regret sweeps through her chest as she wonders whether their mother had fretted over her sudden leave. Or she could have moved on with barely a second thought about her oddling daughter. Siren was never an easy one to pin down.

”Ruby,” she exhales in relief at finding her sibling as she approaches. She isn’t quite sure how well received her presence may be but her gut feeling is to greet Ruby with a gentle wag and a loving nudge to the cheek. She resists the urge and waits to see how her sister reacts, though she would be more than pleased to reciprocate if Ruby decided to accept her welcomingly.

A moment is spared for the reunion before Lethe is turning her soft golden eyes to the older male in a cold manner. It didn’t take much for her to recognize the defensive demeanor Ruby was putting off toward him and Lethe is willing to jump in if anything were to go awry. For now watches as she stands at her sister’s left side, though slightly further back.
