The sharp snap of Ruby’s teeth causes her to jump ever so slightly before she realizes that the welcome she was receiving was one of warmth and love. She gladly accepts her sister’s greeting and leans into the strange type of hug that was offered. The reunion was momentary and her copper-tinged gaze was quickly cast back onto the strange one before the both of them.
She feels Ruby’s posture shift to stand strongly opposite of this male and it only reinforces her own confidence and resolve that this was not someone to be trusted easily. His voice and the way that he spoke, despite appearing benevolent, gives her an odd feeling. Like cold pricks on her skin even beneath the thickness of her coat. She did not like it.
She is like the shadow of her larger sibling, letting Ruby take the lead but not unwilling to stand her ground if needed. She feels strong and resilient next to Ruby; something she hasn’t felt since their father’s untimely death. It was difficult for her to recover from the loss and her decision to survive alone was a heavy price to pay for not coming to find her family sooner. She hopes that forgiveness will be given and she’ll be allowed to come back to Iromar. She wouldn’t want to be there if Ruby didn’t wish it.
The sound of her name draws her attention from the dark brute before them as Ruby quietly addresses her. The questioning tone that comes with Obsidian’s name sends a pang of worry through her. Had he not been with Ruby and their mother this whole time? Her mind races at the thought of just how long Ruby has been on her own as well. Was Siren not around either? Concern was obvious on her features as she turns to look directly into her sister’s eyes, searching for answers. When she speaks their father’s name the look turns to guilt and what sorrow remains for his passing. Her ears fold down as she glances away, shaking her head “no”.
She knows that now is not the time to delve into the whereabouts of the rest of their family, though the thought of such burns at her intensely. The feeling of the stranger’s eyes on her has her looking back to him suddenly. She knows there is a reason why this stranger causes alarm deep in her gut, but she doesn’t know what it is. And then he moves, first fluidly and cool before his head snaps suddenly to the side in a very unwolven-like motion. Her hackles lifted into a high position as every fiber of her being seemed to bristle all at once. Ears pinning back and eyes directly pinned on him, she didn’t feel comfortable in his presence any more.
”No. Not to be trusted,” she speaks flatly, eyes still trained on him, teeth nearly baring with each word. Her anxiousness rolls off of her in waves but she wouldn’t back down from this… outsider. Yes, he is an outsider. Unlike them. Unlike any who she has ever met.
