Samia's emotions had been difficult for him to place, or assign any single name to. It felt wrong to probe too much, and so he'd stayed away from some parts of her private world despite his desire to get in there and fix everything he could. Israfel figured he owed her that much, at least. Still, he had felt strange when she had left to go hunting for more supplies, though she spent most days doing just that. Something was different, though he'd not let her onto the fact that he'd felt it. Instead, he'd been his usual self - all smiles and adoration - though he'd watched her go through suspicious eyes. Wherever her mood was taking her, Israfel wouldn't be able to last long without following her. He felt that in his very bones. Today, he had to be strong for her even if he didn't understand why! Between his own thoughts of Spirane and fussing over their den, he eventually let himself follow her. The moment he gave himself permission, he was on her trail and off at a jog. The more they had been together, the stronger their connection had grown, and rather than follow her scent, he often found himself able to reliably follow a feeling. It was as if something pulled gently at the centre of his chest, leading him along winding paths and through bramble alike. Samia had always made him feel giddy and warm, and that had never changed. The closer he got, the more his heart thumped and flittered, the warmer he felt. It made him move faster until he saw her ahead, calling out to him in the most unusual of ways, holding some strange shape between her teeth. All of that aside, he broke into a broad grin and rushed forward to her. The feeling he got when he wanted to find her was one thing, but the feeling he got when he found her was completely different. It was as if every ache and worry resolved itself, and like he could take on anything in the world and come out the winner. He did, of course, notice the turtle shell. Well, it had taken him a moment to realise what it was, and when he had, he paused and blinked. His head tilted, though his tail waved all the more as he prowled forward cautiously, reaching out with his nose to sniff at the shell. He wanted to bury his face into her cheek but with that thing there? He thought best not to. At least, for the time being. "What have you got there, Shhhhamiaaaa? He grinned in mischief. They were Ishy and Shamia today, and whatever mood had been hunting her down had seemingly gone back into hiding. Israfel had a suspicion the shell had something to do with it, but he was just glad to see her smile regardless. Whatever had been on her mind, she'd apparently found something to held keep it at bay, though he wanted so badly to fight it and make it go away for good. |
