Danny bit his lower lip at Anapa's comment; typically, Danny found comments of demons to be symptoms of ignorance or illness. He'd had plenty of parents drag their children in, raving about demons causing illness, just as he'd had plenty mentally ill patients claim angels, demons, or gods were speaking directly to him. The term put his back up, but when Anapa said it... in that calm, deep voice with such utter conviction, Danny wasn't sure he could argue - or if he even wanted to. After all, modern medicine and even his magic had done nothing for the woman, and her miraculous death and resurrection were hardly natural.
Anapa approached, saving Danny from a reply as he waited for the man to elaborate, but his words only served to be more confusing. Not dead but dead, but not in the Realm of the Dead? This was exactly the sort of thing he'd have wanted to ask Aura about - not that Danny was overly familiar with the goddess, certainly not that he could have just called her up out of the blue for a chat, but she was the kinda-sorta Death-on-Shaman expert.
"Damn," he whispered, under his breath. Gwythr always came in to wreck things, if Shaman history was any indication. Danny supposed he should have seen it coming, all things considered. Every time something was going right, it just meant it was about to fall apart soon. "This mystery is going to drive me crazy."
He rubbed his temples, barely noticing when Anapa's focus changed. He cocked his head to the side as Anapa spoke again, slapping his forehead as he was reminded of just one of the many things he'd forgotten to ask in the brief time the woman was awake.
"I can't believe I forgot to ask!" Then, realizing what Anapa had said, he frowned in thought. "No name? But... who doesn't have a name?"
He rubbed his hand over his face, feeling weary. "Was it just me, or did it seem like she got stronger the more she tried? Was it the water?" he mumbled thoughtfully. "Or is it that the more she moves, the more she can fight this... demon, or whatever."
