Detailed appearance: Somewhere on the spectrum between handsome and pretty, with large, feminine eyes rimmed in dark lashes, full lips with a pronounced cupid’s bow, and a square-ish, angular face softened by youth. One might even call him baby-faced. He uses magic to improve his nose, which is broader than he’d like, but tends to leave alone the thin scar that slashes down across his right eyebrow to his cheek, because “men need flaws to be interesting” (and because without it, he’d pass a bit too easily as a woman). His hair is curly and wild and gives the sensual appearance of having just emerged from bed – if it were shorter it might be more obvious that it’s beginning to thin around his temples. He’s light-boned and narrow, built for a catwalk or a tailored designer suit, and slightly below average height, though he sometimes makes himself taller. These are not the only changes he makes to himself; on any given day, he may be sharper, thinner or more muscular, tanned or ghostly pale, his eyes blue or green instead of their usual coppery hue. He has lived his life surrounded by people of impossible beauty (Lorraine herself chief among them) and so finds his own natural beauty generally insufficient.
History: Zhenya (short for Yevgeni, though nobody has called him that in years), is the only son of a favored family in Lorraine’s court. He grew up extremely privileged, surrounded by wealth, power and status – between this and his beauty, it surprised no-one when Lorraine hand-picked him for her inner circle. Zhenya has served as assistant to Lorraine’s principle designer since his 18th birthday; or at least, he used to, until the disaster with Gwythr sent the Russian goddess’ cult scurrying into the shadows. He’d grown used to a life that afforded him ample opportunity to rub elbows with the Lorrainian elite, flex his creative skill with events, interiors and fashion, and partake of the best distractions money could buy. Now a refugee and a recent recruit to the resistance, he is struggling to reconcile his past and his future, and wrestles with demons that no longer hide in gilded cages.
Personality: Charming and clever, Zhenya’s social purpose (until this point) has been to host and entertain; he can be coy or seductive, disarming or sarcastic, self-effacing or arrogant. He is adaptive to the setting, has exceptional social awareness and appears extroverted to acquaintances. However, all these traits belie a fatalistic nature and fear of intimacy. In some ways he is most comfortable alone, but that is when his thoughts run away with him; company is his drug of choice. He is capable of deep love and trust but has never experienced either – until this point he has viewed relationships as games to be played and won. The absence of Lorraine and the dissolution of his community has left him reeling, angry, depressed and unpredictable.
