each day death crawls into my body: claim

~ each day death crawls into my body

A whisper on the sultry breeze draws him from his slumber; his dark eyes blink away the sleep. The whisper beckons him to travel across the moonlit desert sands and into the hissing waves beyond. He only hesitates long enough to pass his dark eyes over the sleeping forms of the Dunes herd, with a sigh on his dark lips. He slips soundlessly into the inky night.

Khonsu guides Bahadır with his silvery light, washing everything in an eery sterling color. He steps from the frothing surf with certainty and confidence in each stride. He raises his delicately chiseled crown higher on his neck as his dark eyes take in the scenery that lays out before him. Many do not stroll through the night, they choose to remain asleep but miss out on the beauty that night offers. He steps from the bubbling surf and on to the hard sand and the sand shifts beneath his strides.

He moves with the grace of his ancestors, tail flags up and over his back, and his paper-thin nostrils quiver with every breath. There is a chill in the air, a warning of what is to come. Soon winter will spread her fingers across the Isles, some Islands will be deep with snow while others will feel a gust of frigid air at night. It is in that moment, a chilly breeze gusts through the naked branches and a chill runs the length of his spine.

A movement catches his dark gaze, and he halts in his steps with his tail flagged over his haunches. Ears flick atop his crown amongst thick unkept onyx locks. He takes notice of her finely chiseled head and her lithely built body beneath the silvery moon. It is obvious they share the same ancestors. With a swish of his tail he closes the short distance between them.

"Khonsu is generous in his offer of silvery light. Wouldn't you agree?" he states to the onyx woman who wanders alone beneath the silvery moon.
