Kweku had certainly been basking, perhaps a little too shamelessly. He had been sprawled out over a large rock, his tan body practically blending into the stone and dry grass around him. The sun beat down on him, and he lay on his side, eyes half-closed and breathing slow. IT had been an exceptionally easy day for him, and although the heat was verging on a little too hot for his liking, he wanted to enjoy it all he could. That, or he had become too comfortable to persuade himself to move. Everybody else was busy, anyway, so he hadn't exactly been needed anywhere. In fact, he felt rather proud of himself for having spent some of the morning with Rana in an effort to train her how to hunt better, or at least how to better watch over the borders rather than get herself distracted.
All that considered, he had been surprised to see Sekhmet approach. She was easy for him to spot among the grass, her dark form like a deep shadow as she swayed towards him. What he would have given to just be allowed to watch her, but he could see the tension in her body and face. Had something happened? Immediately, Kweku rolled over and sat up, his ears tall and toes having clenched into the rock in anticipation. Despite her tension, she did not move urgently. If anything had happened, it must not have been too serious...Yet, he could not help but feel himself verge into the space between agitated and excited. It had been a long time since he had seen any kind of violence, and he wondered if he might finally have a reason for it...
He let out a growl of his own in greeting, his tail giving a lazy, idle kind of wave before it flopped down behind him again. Like molten gold, he poured down from his rock, his steps almost silent as he came to stand in front of her. He rose, ever proud to show off his physique, and immediately greeted her with a curious sniff, his teeth nipping at the air around her ear. He needn't waste his time with words - he could see that, at least. Sekhmet had come with a purpose, and he figured he ought to behave himself and listen as he should.
