i'm glad i learned that the universeruns on death - it's more beautiful to know.
Menkhet was quiet and contemplative as Lamia spoke considering her words. “Perhaps not. I cannot fault you for your mother, you did not choose her.” she paused thinking over her words. “Mother as well as myself want what is best for the pack. Snakes in the grass will be weeded out and crushed. You understand the grey woman would not be permitted past the boarders and likely your litter mates. If this is the case could you live with it, O’ Lost One mine.” The dark girl shook her fur out and inhaled deeply curious as to if the girl would truly be content to lose her old family in a way and perhaps gain another but it is her last statement that caused Menkhet to consider the fact she likely would.
Nodding her maw ever so slightly she spoke again. “Who is yourself? Well, who do you wish to be? What do you wish to do? Shadows are good when you wish to hide but if you do not, well you should not be forced. As long as your loyalty lies with the pack, Asteraia is a place of freedom.” It was a true statement. Yes, there where rules and boundaries but natures where fed and not constrained. While she could not speak for other places or families while her mother did have expectations and whilst she was groomed as the heir, mother was never overbearing nor did she twist those to gain loyalty. Those who followed her did so because they respected her and for most she knew mother treated them like her family or at least her possessions not to be messed with by others.
Though she kept a mindfulness on the girl Menkhet settled on her haunches as she waited for answers. Maybe the girl wasn’t like the rest of her family, she wasn’t easily going to trust everything but her acceptance was up to her mother, not herself. At least for now she could gain some idea of what the girl sought in life. The dark fem was content to make conversation for now and even answer questions. There was a time for deceit and dark games but for now she saw no need for any of that. She would only sate her curiosity and perhaps her half-sisters as well. Who knew how invaluable she could end up being in the pack or for the future.
