Further to the above.
(rather than an email)
The 2/6th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers were a WW2 " Home Front " battalion and did not see service overseas. They were formed at Rochdale in the summer of 1939 during the doubling of the Territorial Army in preparation for war service. They were ultimately disbanded at Holt in May 1946 following several reorganisations during the war years. They served mainly on the East Coast as a training and home defence unit, moving between several locations and finally to Holt near Cromer.
May I recommend to you the book The History of the Lancashire Fusiliers 1939-45 by John Hallam ISBN 0-7509-0409-7 Alan Sutton Publishing Ltd. It is normally available via your local lending library. Pages 198 - 201 gives a good account of the 2/6th's WW2 movements.
