she heard the siren calls

Birch had already shifted into planning mode, considering not only their options for gathering intel but also how best to utilize their family and friends. Poppy's Bohdi had Tracking, but Birch wasn't totally convinced the chaos would be worth it - the two women meant well, but... Cypress' canines would be invaluable once they'd pinpointed a search location, and anything found could be brought to Alder for analysis. Olive's telepathy would keep them all connected, and Birch was happy to be the muscle. The Destras hadn't been mobilized quite like this before - they were more the "family parties and event hosts" type - but now that she thought about it, they were rather uniquely suited to it.

She paused at Jacopo's laugh, head cocking to the side as she studied him. A little smile played on her lips without her realizing, an instinctual reaction to the sound even if she wasn't sure the reason. She snorted a little at his comment, shaking her head at him.

"Well of cour-" she began, but it ended on a surprised laugh as she found herself abruptly off her feet, crushed in a hug. She was on her feet a moment later, leaning into his touch, and forgetting whatever it was she'd meant to say. Jacopo was standing close, the look on his face rather distracting, and how was she supposed to plan when he was so...

She grinned - how could she not? - as his lips came down to meet hers. Her body twined cat-like against him, remembering again that they were wonderfully alone.

"You know," she whispered, running her hands under his shirt. "There's an empty tent right there."

she heard the siren calls from the shadowy side,
she built a house in the darkness as the light fainted
