as the light in me went dark

The painted woman's unease is palpable. She wears it like a cloak. It merely strengthens Khar's resolve to intervene instead of continuing on her own way. No doubt the others, especially the dark mare, would have been more pleased if she had not. Though the stallion feigns polite conversation, her recent encounter with Raider has done nothing more than strengthen her resolve and distaste for the male sex. If she never saw another stallion again it would be too soon. Instinctively she tenses as the stallion speaks now, her name upon his lips bury her ears beneath the silken white threads of her mane. "Khar'pern to you." she replies with a rather flat matter-of-fact tone. Khar was reserved for friends and family, neither of which applied to him.

However he seems less pushy than the black mare and instead redirects his questions and the conversation back to the painted woman. Ears swivel forward now as her pale silvery gaze softened upon the woman's face. Yes, it was good she had stepped in. She goes on to tell the black woman she would not be going with her, apparently finding some sense of self preservation in the brash bold approach that Khar herself had made. If there was anything about the dappled woman of moonlight, Khar was no pushover. A proud smile tugs the corners of her ash dusted lips upwards but Khar does her best to suppress the smile. It was neither the time or place. Eliza goes on to speak of the lands of which she had come. Her words are vivid and full of love, deep down Khar can feel the affection the woman had for such a land. But then... why was she here?

Curiosity peaks her interest now and she starts to speak her thoughts when once more the dark woman steps forward with haughty words of her own. Khar fixes her with an icy stare as she turns and departs the group, but not before the silver mare flashes her pearly white teeth in distaste. "It is a good thing I showed up then isn't it? " she says with a hard snort. Yes, the black mare rubbed her the wrong way with all this claiming business. She would have to keep her eyes open in the future should she return for others.

For now, she is gone. Aside from the dark brown male still being present it was quite a nice meet and greet if she did say so herself. Once more gaze softens as she gazes at the shivering woman dipping her own head warmly. "The peaks are not far from here at all... in fact, they are here on this very island." she breathes, glancing towards the nearby mountains whose jagged peaks remained hidden from the world below by dense layers of cloud and fog. "A lovely place for the sure of foot and thick of coat. We mares make our own destinies there. No stallion to tell us what to do." she murmurs drying glancing at the stallion. He too did not appear to have nearly the thick winter coat as herself, his scent smells strong of salt water and lush grounds. "This island is not your home either is it?" she asks offering him the first invitation into the conversation. She still did not trust him, but well he was on his best behavior of that she has no doubt.
