Confusion morphs into unease before crystallizing into defiance on the girl's pale features, her small chin hoisting into the air to signal her rebuttal. Clearly, she did not feel won over by his offer.
On most days, temperance would not be his reaction. Solomon's blood ran hot beneath the patchwork colors of his skin, and patience did not come easily. The exhaustion of the trip and the elation at his looming victory served to dampen the kneejerk reaction that would have otherwise resulted in a flash of teeth and the press of skin to skin to correct her attitude.
"Hardly," he murmurs, mirth suffusing the word. If he meant to do the young girl harm, he wouldn't waste time trying to hide her away in the bushes first. Whatever sinful activity he may have had in mind could easily be carried out on the beach; let whoever wished watch it. Wolfishly, a smile crawls across the dusky charcoal of his lips, but he does not move to close the distance between them.
Only when the girl softens, her expression clearing like the sun after a burst of rainfall, does he likewise release the tension that had built in the proud arch of his neck and extends his muzzle minutely in her direction. "It does have a certain flair to it. You should try of the Cove on for size, I'd wager it sounds even better."
Seeing as the mare had made no move to follow his initial suggestion, Solomon adjusts his posture with a cocked hip and a flick of the water slick strands of his tail. "Though you might have to wait until tomorrow before you can see your new namesake. I'm going to guess you've had a long swim to get here. Or are you from here, Morgause of the sea and Cove?"
