Kestral has never been normal. He was born seeing the world through different eyes. Maybe it's genetic, or maybe it's just a series of circumstances that kept him like this, but the truth is, he's not like other stallions. It's easier to live life this way. To get caught up in trivial pursuits such as politics, and needless social drama only serves to create stress. Kestral has everything he needs without caring about such things. He's never gone without good sustenance, or some form companionship. He has no trouble finding mares to continue his line. He doesn't need to own anything to have everything, so why bother?

"The Gods made me this way, Kyuubi.", he explains. "And I'm glad they did.", he confesses. "Why would I want to escape? I have everything I need here." Kestral doesn't need power. No one needs power. As long as he has power over his own mind, he doesn't care where is body stands. A stallion would be stupid to try to leave the peak. He has all the comforts of herd life, surrounded by beautiful mares, and an abundant food supply, but none of the responsibility that would normally come with it.

Life is good.

Kyuubi has it good here too, even without her sister. But she could have it good somewhere else too. Her decision is hers and hers alone to make. At least she can rest easy knowing that Kestral will support her, no matter what decision she makes.
