Love in a lifetime of war.

His days of being an alpha were over. Though he had no qualms with companionship, his goals were to bolster the numbers in the forest and refill the ranks that had become diminished thanks to the war that had ripped through the trees. It was an amiable place, sheltered from the brunt of the winter and sparsely populated with men and women alike that seemed peaceful enough in their ways that they would be welcoming to newcomers.

“I will not behold you staying in the forest forever, Aponi.” He clarifies, nodding his great red head and keeping a steady, warm eye on her. He was not in a rush, and though he would have liked to dry off before returning to the waters, he imagined that the water would be less jarring if he were still cold and whipped by the wind. “It is not a conventional place, but it holds a special place in my heart.” Like a soft apology for rushing her off, away from the commons, Vercingetorix had always been perplexed at the hurried and brash way that stallions had dragged off their new conquests.

In the forest, she would become an active participant in the kingdom that he hoped to help Persephone build.

Yet, if she was displeased with the proposal, he was certain no one would begrudge her leaving.

Nodding his head in acceptance to her offer, his great red body turns back to the water, a cautionary glance over his shoulder before he continues off at a quick walk, gritting his teeth and preparing to crash back into the waves. “I hope you don’t mind swimming.” He offers her with a little soft chuckle, only moments before his legs are awash with water and he is once more in the water, aiming for Luthien once more.
