The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.

  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
you call me out upon the waters

you call me out upon the,
waters

My ears strayed to Cain as he hoped aloud that I'd become use to this home. If only he knew that I was already used to this place. It was familar. There is a certain beauty to the desert. The differences in temperature can be difficult as it is extremely arrid, but the changes bring some of the most beautiful things. In the spring, it's like it comes to life. Cactus flowers bloom the most beautiful shades of pink and yellow. The flowers are glorious. The oasis a desert can offer is so equally beautiful. I smile to myself as I am brought fond memories of my rearing in the desert. Oh how I've missed it. I guess I didn't realize how much I did until I set foot on this shrubby island.

I look to Cerosi as she grooms herself. Her coat is undoubtedly not suited for this weather. It will be a matter of days before her body begins to shed out to adjust to the heat. My ears perk as Cerosi asks about Cain's herd. It is then that the anxiety that I've been keeping at bay, comes back again. Meeting more horses was not my strong suit. I am most definitely a loner. I take deep, soothing, breathes in an effort to calm myself. I hope it's not so obvious that I am clearly uncomfortable.

I'm fidgeting now. I pick one hoof up and dig slightly in the sand to keep from feeling awkward. I pause for a second and look to Cain to lead the way. The sun has risen nearly mid-day now. It beats down on my black coat. I welcome the warm after taking the long swim from the mainland. Yes it'd be great to meet your herd." I agree with Cerosi. It is a lie. But I don't want to be unwelcoming. He did offer me a home after all. Maybe being back in a herd environment will break my social fear.
