After her previous experience, Monster's presence was a necessary comfort, but Zjeena never intended to keep Monster from tending to her own needs. The other mare departs in a hurry after her own twins are on their feet. Zjeena gives her two new colts just enough time to steady themselves and enjoy their first meal before following Moster's trail through the jungle.

Monster hid herself well among the foliage, but her pained cries soon ring out over the chatter of the birds. Zjeena recognizes the fear in those cries. She's heard it in her own voice before, and the realization beats her heart an increasing rhythm. Zjeena presses on, following the sound, her own afterbirth trailing behind her. The sounds guide her, but the iron smell of blood draws her to the source.

Zjeena breaks free of the jungle with tears in her eyes. The veins in her neck jump like fishes from the water. Her faces twists with worry. And there, she sees her best friend, bloodied and exhausted, but tenderly cleaning the damp new coat of a beautiful colt. Monster is alive, and the relief in such a sight lets loose a long breath she didn't know she was holding. "Monster..." Zjeena whispers into the blood-soaked thicket.

Zjeena steps towards Monster's prone form, stopping to stand sentry at her side. Zjeena's ears pin flat against her poll, and her hooves stand firm. Her lips peel back, bearing yellowed teeth, and her eyes roll in warning. Zjeena is fond of Grier but in such a moment, Zjeena is wary of anyone. When Monster is ready to rise, Zjeena will be there, a solid structure to lean on. If Monster needs a pound of flesh to sink her teeth into, Zjeena will be there for that too. Should anyone present themselves as a threat, Zjeena will show them, monsters aren't the only creatures to go bump in the night.

Zjeena's own children stumble out of hiding to huddle together at her flank. They are too young to understand the situation at hand.
