When she stopped for a moment, only to take off toward ht water like she meant to run away from him, Cain felt his heart cracking. Did she fear him all over again? Did everything they'd worked toward fall back to shambles in her absence? He made himself push forward, knowing that he would have to let her go and he may never see her again. He wanted to think it wasn't good bye but her actions weren't giving him much in the way of hope. She did finally stop again when he got close and he made sure to give her space, not wanting her to feel crowded or pressured. He wouldn't touch her, even though every fiber of him ached to. At first he feared she might not answer him but finally he heard her soft voice and his ears strained forward to catch every syllable. She had no idea the power she had over him. She wouldn't look at him and it hurt, pain etched in his eyes as he continued to watch her.

Is this really the way they would part? She said they didn't touch her and he let out a breath of relief. He continued to listen as she spoke of Vasilissa and how she thought taking Primrose would somehow help her stallion, Ruger. Cain remembered well how she tried the same explanation with him like it would somehow justify her actions and he scowled in confusion and disapproval. He didn't see how stealing a mare could help Ruger, even a mare as precious as Primrose. She said Ruger was a family friend and that he wouldn't harm her. Cain nodded in acknowledgement. He didn't know that at the time and he feared the worst but when he went to Shamwari for help, the red stallion told him Ruger was an ally so he had to assume he was a friend. Cain took the tongue lashing Shamwari gave him and left in peace, not wanting to further stir the stallion's ire cause he knew he'd done wrong by both his daughters.

He was still trying to make it right and he always would be. Then she said Ruger took her back to the Prairie and set her free and Cain smile softly in approval. "Good....I'm glad." He looked down for a moment, so torn. He wanted her to stay but knew it would be selfish. Instead, he took a breath and looked back at her. "If I never see you again, Primrose, I just want you to know that you were a huge influence on who I'm working to become. I'm trying to be the stallion I should have been the first time we met, a father Paisley can maybe some day be proud of. I'm sure she'll grow up as beautiful and strong as her mother. I....I can never stop telling you how sorry I am for the way things went...and I know it'll never make it right but I'll keep saying it anyway just so you know I will never forget."

His jaw clenched for a minute before he ducked his head and took a step back from her, wanting her to know he would make no move to stop her. "I will never forget you, Primrose. I hope you find everything in life you ever wanted and more. You deserve it."
