The dark mare picked her way across the sand carefully as if she'd never been on such a landscape before. Akello slowed his pace as necessary so he wouldn't leave her behind, watching curiously but keeping his mouth shut on his thoughts. Perhaps she would get used to it. She gave her name as Melisma and Akello grinned in excitement. "A pleasure to meet you, Melisma." He offered politely as they walked. When he showed her the oasis, he stood by patiently while she drank her fill and cooled down for a bit in the shade of the trees. He had seen many a horse from the other islands need to retreat into the cooler air the trees offered from time to time and could only assume this was normal for horses not adapted to the desert heat. Luckily, he was born here so he had adapted quickly. Only when she was ready did he start walking again and not too long after he saw the familiar form of his father. He went up to greet him but noticed the mare stopped to watch. Once they got their own greeting over with, Akello told him about Melisma and stepped to Cain's shoulder to let them speak to one another. The mare said the mainland was crowded and Cain let his lips twitch into a small knowing smirk. He watched curiously as she looked around before settling her gaze back on him. She said she might take him up on the offer and Cain pricked his ears with interest. She wanted to stay here? His eyes glowed with genuine happiness to hear it. Smiling, he nodded. "I would like nothing more. You are welcome to stay here as long as you like, Melisma."
